Proslavljena kao „kraljica klasične harmonike“, Mie Miki, počela je svirati na instrumentu u dobi od četiri godine. U osmoj godini je snimila svoje prvo radio emitovanje u Tokiju, u 16. Godini se preselila u Njemačku kako bi studirala na Muzičkoj akademiji u Trosingenu u Njemačkoj. Hailed as a “Queen of the Classical Accordion”, Mie Miki, started playing the instrument at the age of 4. At the age of 8, she made her first radio broadcast for NHK in Tokyo. At the age of 16, she moved to Germany to study at the Trossingen Academy of Music in Germany. After winning two times the 1st prize at the International Accordion Competition in Klingenthal, Germany (Kategorie Jugend Ausland) and the 1st prize at the International Accordion Competition in Annecy, France, Mie Miki soon started her active performing career in Europe. In the 80s, she was invited to introduce the classical accordion for the first time in the People’s Republic of China. In 1989, for the first time ever as an accordionist. She was awarded: Förderungspreis des Landes Nordrhein-Westfalen for young artists in Germany, „Record Academy“ Japan 1997, „Music Pen Club 2014“, „Gramophone Awards” 2017, “Instrumentalistin des Jahres“ bei OPUS KLASSIK 2018. As a soloist, Mie Miki has appeared with numerous renowned orchestras including the Suisse Romande Orchestra, NHK Symphony Orchestra, Belgian National Orchestra, New Japan Philharmonic, Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra, Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra, Belgischen National Orchester, Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin under such conductors as Seiji Ozawa, Hiroyuki Iwaki, Yutaka Sado, Mario Venzago and Charles Dutoit. A concert series entitled “Mie Miki Accordion Works”, featuring numerous premières, takes place every year in Tokyo and more than 60 works have been dedicated to her by composers such as Toshio Hosokawa, Adriana Hölszky, N.A. Huber, Toshi Ichiyanagi, Maki Ishii and Yuji Takahashi. Her uniquely composed program with her wide range repertoire from Baroque to Contemporary attracts the audiences from different walks. More than 29 CDs have been released by major labels such as BIS, Philips, SONY, DENON, Vanguard Classics, Camerata Tokyo and King International. Currently, Mie Miki is a professor for accordion and Vice-President for Artistic Excellence at the Folkwang Universität der Künste Essen in Germany.
