Andrey Gugnin (Rusija / Russia)

Svjetski poznatog pijanistu Andreja Gunjina, Gramophone opisuje kao “umjetnika izvanredne i agilne tehnike koja je u službi inspirativne  imaginacije”. 2020. godine, BBC Music Magazine Awards nagrađuje ga nagradom Instrumental Award za snimak 24 preludija i Sonata br. 1 i 2 D. Šostakoviča u izdanju Hyperion Records-a.

Od pobjede na čuvenom Sydney International Piano Competition 2016. godine, neprestano oduševljava svojim interpretacijama publiku širom svijeta. Uz pobjedu u Sidneju, na istom je takmičenju dobio priznanja za najbolje izvođenje klavirskog koncerta, najbolje izvođenje klavirskog koncerta 19. ili 20. vijeka, najbolje izvođenje sonate za violinu i klavir te najbolji recital u prvom eliminacionom krugu takmičenja.  Andrej Gunjin osvojio je Gold Medal i Audience Award na XCI International Gina Bachauer Piano Competition 2014. godine u Solt Lejk Sitiju (SAD) te drugu nagradu na 2013 Beethoven International Piano Competition u Beču.
Diplomirao je na Moskovskom državnom konzervatorijumu P. I. Čajkovski, kod Vere Gornostajeve, nakon čega dobija poziv da se kao redovni član pridruži programu Moskovskog filharmonijskog društva za mlade muzičke talente pod nazivom Zvijezde 21. vijeka.
Laureat je Međunarodnog takmičenja Allegro vivo u San Marinu (Italija, 2008.), Međunarodnog takmičenja u gradu Kantuu (prva nagrada, 2009.), Međunarodnog takmičenja Svetislav Stančić u Zagrebu (druga nagrada i dvije specijalne nagrade, 2011.), takmičenja Ludwig van Beethoven u Beču (2013.), Međunarodnog takmičenja Valsesia Musica u Italiji (prva nagrada, 2014.) i takmičenja Cidade de Ferrol u Španiji (prva nagrada, 2015.).

Redovno svira na turnejama, održava recitale, nastupa kao kamerni muzičar i kao solista uz orkestar u poznatim koncertnim prostorima kao što su Musikverein u Beču, Carnegie Hall u Njujorku, dvorana Abravanel Hall u Solt Lejk Sitiju, Sydney Opera House, Eastman School of Music, Velika dvorana Moskovskog državnog konzervatorijuma, Royal Festival Hall u Londonu, Koncertna dvorana P. I. Čajkovski u Moskvi, Tajlandski kulturni centar, dvorana Muzeja Luvr, HNK u Zagrebu i drugi. Na poziv je održao majstorske kurseve u Rusiji, Sjedinjenim Američkim Državama i Hrvatskoj. Sarađivao je s orkestrima kao što su Ruski državni akademski simfonijski orkestar, Simfonijski orkestar Sanktpeterburške dvorske kapele, Orkestar Marijinskog teatra, Simfonijski orkestar iz Jute, Jerusalem Camerata, Londonska filharmonija, Holandski simfonijski orkestar, Moskovski državni akademski simfonijski orkestar, Asko Schönberg ansambl, Camerata Salzburg, Israel Camerata Orchestra i drugi. Gostovao je na festivalima kao što su Verbier, Pijanistički festival u Ruru, Dubrovačke ljetne igre, Muzički festival Olympus, Međunarodni festival umjetnosti Art-November, Vivacello, Ars-longa, Ohridski ljetni festival, Šangajski festival, Zagrebačke ljetne večeri, Festival mladih u Aberdinu, Festival scenskih umjetnosti Bermudskih ostrva, Međunarodni festival Marinski, Duszniki Chopin International Festival, Pleyel Svetislava Stančića i mnogi drugi. Kao pobjednik Međunarodnog pijanističkog takmičenja u Sidneju održao je uspješnu  koncertnu turneju po Australiji i Novom Zelandu, koja je sadržala gotovo pedeset koncerata. Imao je i vlastiti ciklus koncerata u dvorani Moskovske filharmonije, a redovno nastupa sa eminentnim dirigentima od kojih se izdvajaju Jap Van Zveden, Valerij Gergijev, Rajnbert de Liuv, Daniel Raiskin, Juraj Valčuha i drugi. Gunjinova diskografija sadrži snimke Šostakovičevih Klavirskih koncerata s Ruskim državnim akademskim kamernim orkestrom (Delos International, 2007.), muziku za klavirski duo iDuo (s Vadimom Holodenkom, Delos International, 2010.) te solističkog koncerta (Steinway&Sons). Njegov snimak Šostakovičevih koncerata korišten je na albumu iz Oscar®-om nagrađenog filma Stivena Spilberga, „Most špijuna“. Takođe je snimao za televizijske i radio programe u Rusiji, Holandiji, Hrvatskoj, Austriji, Švajcarskoj i Sjedinjenim Američkim Državama.

Sa diskografskom kućom Hyperion Records 2018. godine potpisao je ugovor, što je rezultiralo diskografskim izdanjima sa djelima Šostakoviča, snimanjem izdanja pod nazivom Hommage to Godowsky kao i mnogim planiranim snimcima u bližoj budućnosti. Za snimak sa djelima Lista u izdanju PianoClassicsa, dobio je sjajnu kritiku čuvenog Gramophone-a, koji ga je uvrstio i u dvije svoje kategorije: Editor’s Choice i One to watch

U sezoni 2022/2023. Gunjin će održati niz solističkih recitala širom Evrope i Amerike, uključujući Ehrbar Hall u Beču, National Hall Litvanske filharmonije kao i Rose Wagner Arts Center u Solt Lejk Sitiju. Uz orkestre, u novoj sezoni izdvajaju se nastupi Ravelovog Koncerta za lijevu ruku sa Danish National Symphony Orchestra, Koncerta za klavir i orkestar br. 3 sa Nagoya Philharmonic Orchestra, Koncerta za klavir i duvače Igora Stravinskog sa Armenian State Symphony Orchestra, Koncerta za klavir i orkestar Edvarda Griga sa South Czech Philharmonic Orchestra i mnogim drugim.

World reknown pianist Andrey Gugnin is rapidly gaining international acclaim as a passionately virtuosic performer, who possesses an “extraordinarily versatile and agile technique, which serves an often inspired musical imagination” (Gramophone). In 2020, the BBC Music Magazine Awards named Gugnin the winner of the Instrumental Award for his recording Shostakovich: 24 Preludes – Piano Sonatas 1 & 2 (Hyperion). Since winning the prestigious Sydney International Piano Competition in 2016, Gugnin has gone from strength to strength in concerts and recordings which exhibit his impassioned interpretations. In addition to winning in Sydney, Gugnin also received prizes at this illustrious competition for Best Overall Concerto, Best 19th/20th Century Concerto, Best Violin and Piano Sonata, and Best Preliminaries for his first-round recital. His also won the Gold Medal and Audience Award at the XCI International Gina Bachauer Piano Competition in 2014, and second prize at the 2013 Beethoven International Piano Competition in Vienna.

Increasingly in demand as a concerto soloist, Gugnin has been invited to perform as a guest artist with notable orchestras worldwide, such as the London Philharmonic Orchestra, the Mariinsky Symphony Orchestra, the State Academic Symphony Orchestra of Russia, the Netherlands Symphony Orchestra, Utah Symphony, West Australian Symphony Orchestra and the Sydney Symphony, and has performed under the distinguished batons of Maestro Valery Gergiev, Jaap Van Zweden, Reinbert de Leeuw, Daniel Raiskin, Stanislav Kochanovsky and Asher Fisch. He has also collaborated in a more chamber context with the Asko Schönberg ensemble, Orchestre de Chambre de Genève, Jerusalem Camerata and Camerata Salzburg and on several occasions as the duo partner of violinist Tasmin Little. As a recording artist, Gugnin has published a broad scope of repertoire ranging from solo piano to symphonic works. His release of Liszt’s Transcendental Etudes (Piano Classics, 2018) were commended as Editor’s Choice, and distinguished Gugnin as “one to watch” (Gramophone). Other notable recordings include his duo programme with violinist Ioana Cristina Goicea (Atoll Records, 2019), an inspired selection of solo piano suites entitled Pictures (Steinway&Sons, 2016), and a collection of piano duets with Vadim Kholodenko (Delos International, 2010). Andrey has also extensively recorded for TV and radio in Russia, The Netherlands, Croatia, Austria, Australia, Switzerland and the USA. Currently Gugnin continues his collaboration with Hyperion Records. His latest album of complete Scriabin’s Mazurkas (2022) was awarded the Recording of the Month by Limelight Magazine. In addition to these recordings, Gugnin’s Shostakovich Concertos (Delos International, 2007) were selected to feature on the soundtrack of Steven Speilberg’s Oscar®-winning film Bridge of Spies.

Gugnin’s expanding list of performance venues include Vienna’s Musikverein, Auditorio Nacional in Madrid, Victoria Hall in Geneva, Carnegie Hall in New York, Abravanel Hall in Salt Lake City, Sydney Opera House, the Great Hall of the Moscow State Conservatory, Mariinsky Concert Hall, the Louvre in Paris, Tokyo Metropolitan Art Space and Asahi Hamarikyu Hall. Gugnin has also participated in a plethora of international festivals, including Verbier, Klavier Festival Ruhr, Mariinsky International Festival, Dubrovnik Summer Festival, the Ohrid Summer Festival and the Duszniki Chopin International Festival. In 2020-21, as allowed by the covid pandemic, Gugnin embarked on performing numerous solo recitals at prestigious venues in Russia. Gugnin joined Tasmin Little in her farewell concert at the Southbank Centre as one of her four favourite pianists to collaborate with, which was broadcast live on BBC Radio 3 and for which Andrey was praised for his ‘emphatic, mesmerising playing’ (Bachtrack).

The 2022/23 season will see Gugnin performing solo recitals across Europe and America, including Vienna’s Ehrbar Hall, Lithuanian National Philharmonic Hall in Vilnius and Rose Wagner Performing Arts Center in Salt Lake City. Gugnin will also showcase a number of piano concertos in the 2022/23 season, including Ravel’s Piano concerto for the left hand with Danish National Symphony Orchestra, Rachmaninoff’s Piano concerto no. 3 with Nagoya Philharmonic Orchestra, Stravinsky’s Concerto for piano and wind Instruments with Armenian State Symphony Orchestra, Grieg Piano concerto with South Czech Philharmonic Orchestra.
