Angel Marinov (Bulgaria)

Angel Marinov – instructor in accordion, bayan and bandoneon at Prof. Asen Diamandiev Academy of Music, Dance and Fine Arts (AMDFA) in Plovdiv, Bulgaria. Born in 1975 in Asenovgrad, Bulgaria, he graduated from the Dobrin Petkov Secondary School of Music and later received a Master’s Degree in Accordion from the AMDVA in Plovdiv, where he studied Accordion with his father, Associate Professor Peter Marinov. Also there, he finished the Composition class of Prof. Ivan Spassov and Bozhidar Abrashev, some of the most prominent Bulgarian composers of the XX  century. In 1991, he specialized at the Voronezh Institute of Arts with Prof. Alexander Afanasievich Tymoshenko, an instructor, composer and one of the most performed bayan authors in Russia. Angel Marinov is a laureate of the international competitions in Castellfidardo and Val Tindone, as well as a first prize winner in the national competitions in Chirpan, Bulgaria. As a composer, he has many works published and performed in Bulgaria, Europe and Asia. Apart from composing for the accordion, he writes music for films, musicals, theater plays and children’s songs. He is the author of all songs in the music textbooks for all classes by Izkustvo Publishing House, as well as of a number of kindergarten aids by Prosveta and Bulvest Publishing Houses. He has been performing live in the former USSR, the European Union and the Balkan countries. Since 1994, together with his father Petar Marinov, Victor Melnik and Elena Melnik, he co-founded the Consonance Quartet which released a CD. Angel Marinov manages a publishing house for music literature and music theory textbooks. He also runs an artist management agency in the sphere of show business. His students have won a number of prizes at national and international accordion competitions.
